DOHA: The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has launched a fundraising campaign for flood victims in Sudan. The new scheme seeks to help 3,000 to 18,000 families.

The three-month campaign, to be implemented in cooperation with the Sudanese Red Crescent Society (SRCS), aims at alleviating the impact of the floods by providing relief in the areas of health, food and emergency shelter.

Under the project, it is planned to provide non-food items such as blankets, kitchenware, hygiene kits, mosquito nets, tarpaulins, makeshift toilets and inflatable boats with access to the submerged areas.

In addition, the most vulnerable families will receive three forms of assistance – food, cash and the rebuilding of damaged homes. The final phase is the recovery and restoration of normal life, which will focus on health services, community awareness and capacity building.
