DOHA: Qatar Charity (QC) has distributed 2,500 meals to various Asian expatriate families and workers affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. 

The distribution of meals took place in cooperation with the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs, forums, councils and committees of Asian communities.

The meals have benefitted workers and families belonging to the Indian, Bangladeshi, Malaysian, Sri Lankan, Nepalese, Filipino, Pakistani and Indonesian communities, QC said. The meals were distributed under the supervision of the Qatar Charity Centre for Community Development for Asian expatriates (Friends Cultural Centre) in different areas of Qatar, including Al Wakrah, Al Rayyan, Mansoura and Al Hilal.

As part of its humanitarian and social services provided in the country, QC had earlier distributed 13,262 food parcels among various expatriate communities residing in Qatar in cooperation with their embassies, benefitting some 53,048 Asian, African and Arab expatriates. In this, Qatar Charity has cooperated with 20 embassies, including those of Kenya, Nepal, the Philippines, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, India, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mali and Sri Lanka.
