Qatar will participate in meetings of the 72nd World Health Assembly to be held from May 20 to 28 in Geneva under the theme `Universal Health Coverage, Leaving No One Behind’. Minister of Public Health H E Dr Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari will head Qatar’s delegation.
On the sidelines, Qatar will organise a symposium on ‘Quality of Healthcare and Patient Safety in the Face of Emergencies and Tribulations as a Prerequisite for Achieving Universal Health Coverage’ on May 21 at the UN Palace in Geneva.
With the support of 17 countries, the World Health Organisation (WHO) Secretariat, Qatar hopes the symposium would succeed in highlighting this important global issue, as the latest WHO report on universal health coverage has revealed that at least half of the world’s population still lacks access to basic health services.
