DOHA: Qatar today recorded 246 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) and 239 people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recovered cases to 114,797, Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has said. 

The Ministry also announced one new death today, of a person aged 83, who was receiving medical care.

Out of the 246 ​new cases, 230 are community cases and 16 from travellers returning from abroad.

The total number of positive COVID-19 cases recorded in Qatar so far is 117,988 and there are 2996 active cases under treatment. So far, 194 people died from the coronavirus in the country.

Ministry conducted 5,146 Covid tests in the last 24 hours taking the total tests to 609,258. There are 42 cases of hospital admissions in the last 24 hours. Seven patients were admitted to intensive care. The total number of patients in the intensive care is 66.

The government yesterday announced that the fourth phase of lifting of Covid restrictions will begin on 1 September. However, it is important for everyone to follow the precautionary measures and prevent a second wave of infection in the country, the Ministry of Health has said.
