Qatar is top-ranked in the Gulf region and fifth worldwide in the Speedtest Global Index at 59.90 Mbps for mobile internet speed, according to the Ministry of Transport and Communications. The index ranks mobile and fixed broadband speeds from around the world every month.

In the GCC region, Qatar is followed by the UAE in the seventh place globally with 56.33 Mbps, Saudi Arabia in 35th place globally with 35.06 Mbps, Oman in 36th place with 35.06 Mbps and Bahrain in 59th place with 26.37 Mbps. Qatar ranked first among in the GCC and 39th globally in terms of fixed broadband internet speed for April with a speed of 62.65 Mbps.

The index indicated that the upload speed in Qatar reached an average of 16.6 Mbps from mobile internet and 32.20 Mbps from fixed broadband internet.

Norway ranked first globally in terms of mobile internet speed at 65.41 Mbps, followed by Canada with 64.42 Mbps and South Korea with 63.81 Mbps. Singapore ranked first globally in terms of fixed broadband internet speed with 197.50 Mbps, followed by Hong Kong with 172.67 Mbps and South Korea with 144.76 Mbps.
