DOHA: Qatar Rail’s free, on-demand ride-sharing pilot service – metroexpress – has expanded to other areas.
The service will now cover Al Qassar, Katara, Legtaifiya and Qatar University stations, Doha Metro tweeted. It added DECC and West Bay stations would also have more metroexpress services.
The ride-sharing service provides metro users with quick and convenient access to metro stations and the area nearby and was launched in July 2019 for convenient access to DECC and West Bay QIC metro stations. metroexpress can be booked through the designated app on iOS or Android.
The programme accepts multiple passengers’ bookings heading in the same direction and pools them into shared vehicles, using an advanced algorithm that calculates the most direct route possible without lengthy detours, or inconvenient fixed routes and schedules.
This service is exclusive for Doha Metro passengers registered with Qatar Rail and can be only used in conjunction with a Metro ride.
