Qatar Malayali YouTubers (QMY), an online group for Qatar-based YouTubers hailing from the South Indian state of Kerala, organised its first meet-up on Monday.
Thirty Qatar-based creators shared their experiences, expertise and ideas during the info sessions and networking dinner.
The gathering featured sessions by experienced YouTubers. Topics covered during the sessions include ‘buying the right vlogging equipment’, ‘vlogging dos and don’t’s’, ‘how to make use of YouTube live option’, ‘things to note when doing cookery videos’, etc. These were followed by a question and answer session.
The group took shape in November 2018 when YouTubers Liji Abdullah and Shaan Riyas realised the need for an online community for Qatar-based Malayali YouTubers. The duo contacted creators via their channels and social media accounts, thereby forming the first community of its kind in Qatar.
The founding members, nine YouTubers with channels in different categories, came together at a casual gathering in January.
