DOHA: Mohammed Al Emadi, Chairman of Qatar’s Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza, has stressed Qatar is making intensive efforts to contain escalation in the Gaza Strip, in parallel with its continuous efforts to alleviate the humanitarian crisis experienced by residents of the Strip.
Intensive Qatari contacts have been made over the past few hours and are continuing at the highest levels and with all parties to contain the escalation and spare the population of the Gaza Strip from further crises, Al Emadi said.
He urged the international community, the UN and all relevant international organisations to fulfill their commitments and pledges towards providing the necessary support to residents of the Gaza Strip to alleviate humanitarian suffering and crises and improve people’s life situation just as Qatar has committed to its pledges.
Attacks on Gaza continued for the seventh straight night yesterday as Israeli warplanes targeted Hamas observation posts in what the Israeli army said was a response to Palestinian fire balloon attacks across the border.
