Qatar Calendar House (QCH) is to launch its application on smartphones at the beginning of the new Hijri year, as part of its new policy of developing its services for the public.
Faisal Mohamed Al Ansari, Executive Director, Sheikh Abdullah Al Ansari Complex, which includes QCH, said the `Qatari Calendar’ application would be available to the public on Android and Apple devices free of charge, starting Thursday, 1st Muharram 1442 AH.
Al Ansari explained the application would embody the spirit and message of QCH, as it provides basic information for the calendar such as the times of entry of the zodiac, horoscopes and the star of Suhail, sunrise and sunset times and the expected astronomical phenomena during the year.
The app also provides a service for determining the direction of the Qiblah and prayer times in Doha as well as both Makkah and Madinah, in addition to information about hunting and agricultural seasons.
It would also include the dates of official holidays in the country and the academic calendar for schools and universities. The app would provide various astronomical calendars and Ramadan calendar (Imsakiah Ramadan) to be available to everyone at all times.
