DOHA: Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani visited three schools on Thursday, which included Omar bin Al Khattab Independent Preparatory School for Boys, Al Bayan Second Primary School for Girls and Qatar Science and Technology Secondary School for Boys.
He inspected procedures and precautionary measures taken by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the Ministry of Public Health to achieve maximum safety for students and teaching and administrative staff of schools, to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
During the visit, the Prime Minister was briefed on various educational equipment and health preparations made for the 2020-2021 academic year in light of the pandemic, in addition to inspecting a number of classrooms, scientific laboratories, isolation rooms and halls.
He also attended a few of the classes and talked with students about their study experience and distance learning. Sheikh Khalid stressed the importance of preserving public health and educating young people about the need to adhere to the health measures taken.
He praised the efforts of the education sector to continue distance learning during the pandemic and the utilisation of technology in this field.
