DOHA: Several parents have complained about the unjustified increase in tuition fees at some private and international schools in Qatar, stressing that some schools charge even more than international universities, which strains the budgets of many families.

Speaking to Al Raya, parents demanded that the authorities intervene to reduce tuition fees in the light of the current circumstances, especially since “we are following a blended learning system and the bulk of it will be in the e-learning form.”

Parents also said they have now become partners in the educational process compared to the pre-Covid days and they play a bigger role in teaching their children. There is also a need to reduce the pressure on them, they said.

The report said that many parents have had to change the schools of their children because of the high tuition fees.

They also pointed out that the exorbitant fee is not matched by an improvement in educational services, curricula, or quality, in addition to the fact that frequent increases in fees are not followed by an increase in the salaries of teachers and other employees of these schools.

Also, the high costs of books, clothes and transportation are unjustified under the integrated learning system that mainly focuses on distance learning.
