DOHA: NIA Hindi Toastmasters Club recently organised an online slogan writing contest as part of the club’s open house programme. Over 100 guests joined the online event from Qatar, India and Singapore. 

Guests were entertained by the poetry of well-known poet Amit Sharma, who joined from India as the chief guest. Later, other artistes like stand-up comedians Sumit Kakkar and Rahul Giridhar also joined from India to entertain the participants with their satire and humour. Mamta Babbar, a comedian from Qatar, also provided entertainment.

More than 20 participants took part in the contest, which was conducted in two rounds – semi-final and final. Poonam Tanwar secured first position while Avaneesh Agarwal and Shalini Verma came second and third, respectively.

Impromptu skills and talents

The contest showcased the impromptu skills and talents of participants who were shown more than three posters to write the slogans. The contestants were evaluated by chief judges Surya Narayanan, Sameer Moosa and Soniya Jadav along with an anonymous panel.

Thayaan, District 116 director, Ravi Shankar, district admin manager and Riana Pinto, Division B director; graced the occasion. The event was anchored by Dr Meenu Parashar, the club president, and supported by Kumaran C S, Area 7 director.

The event was coordinated and supported by club executive committee members Komal Bhandari, Alka Chaudhary, Asha Sehgal, Nasreen Bano, Nahid Kausar and Latika Pant.
