The National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) organised a seminar on the rights of Nepalese workers in Qatar and the benefits of the new law regulating the entry and exit of expatriates.

The seminar was held in cooperation with the Nepali community in Qatar. It aimed to raise awareness among Nepalese workers on their rights and to introduce the new law related to expatriates and its benefits. The seminar also discussed the relationship between workers and their employers, among other topics.

NHRC Deputy Chairman Dr Yusuf Obaidan said NHRC is working on protecting and promoting the rights of citizens of Qatar as well as expatriates, noting that protection is now more focused on expatriate workers. He said the NHRC has a great responsibility in monitoring the state of workers’ rights in the country.

He stressed Qatar attaches great importance to the issues of migrant workers and to creating suitable conditions for their health, psychological and material conditions through a series of policies and laws aimed at providing them with all guarantees, especially as the country undertakes a large number of projects whether to pursue economic development or to prepare for hosting World Cup 2022.
