DOHA: The second part of the fourth phase of lifting Covid-19 restrictions in the country will begin on Tuesday, 15 September, the Government Communications Office (GCO) has announced.

As part of the second phase, the government has announced the easing of several restrictions. Cinemas and theatre will increase their capacity to 30 per cent, and gyms, health clubs and public swimming pools will also operate at 30 per cent capacity.

The Supreme Committee for Crisis Management emphasised that the evaluation of lifting or imposing further measures depends on the cooperation of everyone and the commitment to following precautionary measures, including wearing masks while outside, washing hands, maintaining a safe distance,and activating the Ehteraz application.

Critical contribution

The GCO said: “The Supreme Committee for Crisis Management thanks both citizens and residents for their critical contribution to the efforts aimed at combating coronavirus (Covid-19) and their commitment to following preventive measures, which have helped to limit the spread of the virus in the community and contribute to a gradual decline in cases.

“With the gradual lifting of Coronavirus restrictions, the Committee stresses that it is necessary to continue adhering to these measures at all times, especially during the coming period which will see further lifting of restrictions.”

“Based on the indicators of the spread of coronavirus in the community, as well as public health indicators which are continuously monitored in the State of Qatar, the second portion of the fourth phase of the gradual lifting of restrictions will start tomorrow, Tuesday 15 September.

“From the beginning of part two of phase four, the relevant authorities will continue to assess the situation and consider re-imposing or lifting some restrictions based on developments and health indicators.”

At the same time, the restrictions lifted as part of Phase 1 of Unlock 4 will remain in place.
