DOHA: The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) represented by the Fish Affairs Department has released 40,000 baby fish or fingerlings of black sea bream, locally known as ‘Al Sh’am’, into Qatari waters.
With the third batch, black sea bream released into the sea has reached 91,000, said the Ministry in statement. They were released at two suitable and safe locations in the northern coastal area.
The release operation is set continue and aims to release 200,000 black sea bream to boost strategic stock of fish in Qatari waters in line with the plan of the Aquatic Research Centre of Ras Matbakh to farm and release fingerlings into the sea.
