DOHA: Cinemas will be allowed to resume their activities in accordance with the capacity, procedures and preventive measures, but persons under the age of 18 are not permitted to enter, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has said. It was announced earlier that the occupancy should be a maximum of 15 percent.

The Ministry has issued guidelines for malls and other shopping centres as part of the fourth phase of the gradual lifting of Covid-19 restrictions.  The fourth phase begins on 1 September.

The Ministry also said that children will be allowed to enter commercial complexes and shopping centers, including retail shops and restaurants, while adhering to the precautionary and preventive measures. 

Smoking has been banned at the entrances of malls and all ashtrays will be removed. Also, visitors or limousine drivers must not be allowed to gather at the entrances to the mall.

The following are other guidelines issued by the Ministry which must be followed by all business establishments to prevent the spread of Covid-19:

  • Food courts in commercial complexes can be reopened with 30% of the normal capacity.

– Prayer rooms in commercial complexes and shopping centers can be reopened according to the capacity specified by the authorities. 

–    Allowing the use of trial rooms following specific health requirements.

–    Allowing children’s barbershops to resume their work in accordance with the precautionary measures with prior appointment. It is not allowed to receive more than two children at a time and one escort per child is allowed to be inside the shop.

– Sterilize rooms designated for measuring clothes, handles, chairs and counters. The maximum number of pieces a single customer can try per day must not exceed three pieces.

The Ministry has said that the start of the second phase depends on the success of of the first phase.
