DOHA: With an objective to stimulate students’ interest in learning the Hindi language and as part of Hindi Day celebrations, MES Indian School conducted Chetana – 2020, an inter-school online competition.

MES Indian School was declared the winners.

The competition was held in the Action Song (Sub Junior), Poem Recitation (Junior), Essay Writing (Intermediate), Story Writing (Senior) and Poem Writing (Super Senior) categories. A

A total of 120 students from 14 Indian schools in Qatar took part in these competitions.

The panel of judges comprised Dr Vinod Chauhan Prasoon, an acclaimed poet, writer, language trainer and the Head of Hindi Department, DPS Greater Noida, Dr K Sukumaran, former principal, University College, Kariyavattom, University of Kerala, Sudhakan Pillai, HSST-HG Hindi, Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Thazhava, Kollam, Sajitha Punnassery, assistant professor, Department of Hindi, Nehru Arts and Science College , Coimbatore, Anant  K   Kesari, Senior Manager-Sales, Marketing and Business, US QSA Thermal, Florida Q Shield, Sanjay Mahendru, shift supervisor, QG 3&4 and Padmawati Pande, teacher educator. 

The felicitation ceremony for Chetana-2020 was conducted on the virtual platform on 14 September.

Chief guest Prasoon in his address emphasised teachers need to adopt modern approaches to teach and promote Hindi. Hameeda Kadar, Principal, MES Indian School and the guest of honour, spoke on the Hindi language’s influence in society.
