DOHA: MES Indian School commemorated Teachers’ Day with a colourful ceremony to honour and felicitate teachers conducted on a virtual platform.

K Abdul Karim, president officiating, MES Governing Board, was the chief guest while PK Mohamed, general secretary, and KP Abdul Azeez, director (Academic) were the guests of honour.  Karim praised teachers for their tireless efforts and unconditional support, especially in these exceptional times of the coronavirus pandemic.

“The virtual mode of classes organised by the school was a great success, ensuring continued and uninterrupted learning for the students,” he said.
Mohamed appreciated the vital role played by teachers in shaping the destiny of the students with utmost diligence, sincerity and hard work.

Resilience

Azeez thanked the teaching fraternity for having exhibited greater resilience and adapting quickly to the new normal amid the pandemic.

School principal Hameeda Kadar complimented the teachers for exhibiting dedication during the pandemic and urged them to continue with their good work for the benefit of the students without compromising on quality.

Rajendran S and Cheryl Soans, teacher representatives from the Boys and KG sections, respectively, felicitated teachers on the occasion. Teachers, who have put in 10, 15, and 20 years in the institution were honoured befittingly.

Events

The recorded rendition of a medley of songs, poem recitation, skit and dance by the teachers added colour to the programme. Sameer Panday, a teacher in the Department of Hindi, delivered the Teachers’ Day message.
Earlier, a quiz competition was held virtually for students in connection with the Teachers’ Day celebrations on Friday.

Among others present on the occasion were: Director MC Muhammed, Annamma Shammy, Mohmmed Ilias, Sumayya Nazeer, Lalitha Srinivas, Baby Shana and teachers.

Rema Devi from the Department of English at the school compered the programme while Magdalene Sylvia and Mehvish Mehraj welcomed the attendees and proposed a vote of thanks, respectively.

Anver K, cultural coordinator of the school, coordinated the event. The ICT Department under the guidance of Haroon Muhammed provided technical support for the programme.
