McDonald’s Qatar celebrated a Garangao event, the age-old annual Qatari tradition on the night of mid-Ramadan, with many children of various nationalities and their families at McDonald’s Town Center branch on May 19.

The atmosphere was amplified with the loud cheers and singing of Garangao songs by the children as they walked collecting goody bags filled with candies prepared by the LSM. Different McDonald’s branches, including Airport, Markhiya, Tebah, Umm Salal, Wakra, City Center, Al Meera – Qutaifiya Dafna, Rayyan2, Woqod and Abu Hamour also hosted a Garangao festival. The restaurants were packed with children with their parents. Selected kids dressed in best traditional and colourful Garangao costumes were awarded with special gifts items.

Ghada Kamal, Marketing Manager, McDonald’s Qatar, said: “Garangao celebration allows us to spread happiness among the youngest members of the Qatari community. It is a tradition that deeply rooted in Arabic culture that is designed to teach children the art of giving and sharing. By participating in this traditional celebration, we are perpetuating our message of kindness, sincerity, and the importance of being associated with the local community.”
