Hassad Food on Tuesday announced its marketing arm Mahaseel will commence receiving and marketing local agricultural products in the Qatari market on 5 June. The government has allocated land as a permanent headquarters for Mahaseel’s project near the new central market in A’Sailiyah.

Hassad has allocated an assembly point at the current central market in Abu Hamour to start the first phase until Mahaseel’s permanent facility is ready. “We have put in place a well-established operations module to ensure that the products are delivered to the assembly point, sorted, packaged then marketed in the local market in an efficient and smooth process to ensure the product is delivered to the consumer in the best form,” Mahaseel General Manager Mohamed Al Ghaithani said.

Mahaseel is working with local farmers to identify types, grades and quantities of vegetable products that will be marketed based on their contracts in the first phase. More than 110 local productive farms had registered through Mahaseel’s website to benefit from the company’s marketing and agricultural services.

This is equivalent to around 15 percent of the total number of local productive farms across the country (800 farms).
