The Deputy Foreign Minister of the State of Kuwait Khaled al-Jarallah stressed that his country’s efforts to contain the longstanding Gulf crisis will continue, hoping that it will not last long.

Speaking to the press on the sidelines of the 16th meeting of the Asian Co-operation Dialogue (ACD), al-Jarallah stressed that his country, through the efforts of the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, and his determination to contain this crisis, will be able to restore the cohesion of this Gulf structure.

He pointed out that this meeting is witnessing great participation from the GCC countries, “a positive sign that we are moving in the right direction”. Al-Jarallah said Qatar’s hosting of this meeting reflects its belief in the importance of enhancing communication, dialogue and interaction between member countries in light of the global trend that respects the economic blocs and the countries that belong to it, pointing out that the meeting is pushing towards achieving member states’ aspirations in all fields.

Al-Jarallah also commended the speech delivered by HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani at the opening of the ACD meeting, saying it touched upon all issues related to this dialogue in term of economy, culture, education and others and it was a road map for such co-operation among Asian states.

He added that the State of Kuwait relies heavily on this cooperation which enables member states realise the aspirations of their peoples for sustainable development and building, noting that the priorities of the meeting should focus on the developmental aspects, as the region is living with crises and conflicts that negatively affected the development rates in many Asian countries, adding it is time for these countries to turn to economic, educational and cultural co-operation, especially as they are in need of such co-operation and strengthening its mechanisms.
