DOHA: Karnataka Sangha Qatar (KSQ) celebrated the 160th birth anniversary of Sir Mokshagundam Vishweshwarayya on 15 September.
The programme started with a notable quote from Sir Mokshagundam Vishweshwarayya, “It is better to work and wear out, rather than rust and perish.”
Chief guest for the programme was Munera Fahad Al Dosari, Chief Strategy Officer, Ooredoo Qatar. Technical presentations were given by Ramesh, senior electrical engineer at Q-Chem Mesaieed (seconded from Worley, Qatar), Hanumesh Siddegowda and Kumaraswamy.
Karnataka Sangha Qatar has been felicitating engineers from Indian origin with the `Abhiyantarashri’ award since its inception. This year the award was conferred upon Indian expatriates for their contribution to the development of society and humanitarian services.
The first recipient was Hemachandran, Senior General Manager, Infrastructure, Galfar Al Misnad, from Andhra Pradesh and the second recipient Mahesh Gowda, Vice-President, ICBF, from Karnataka.
The ceremony was arranged at the Kanjani Hall, Integrated Indian Community Centre (IICC) premises in the presence of KSQ President, Nagesh Rao, management committee members, KSQ past presidents Veerabhadrappa Mannangi, Deepak Shetty, Venkat Rao, Madhu Krishnamurthy and Venkat Rao, ISC representative and KSQ past president Arun Kumar and ICBF Joint Secretary Subramanya Hebbagelu.
The vote of thanks was presented by KSQ Cultural Secretary Akshaya Shetty.
