Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) has announced the opening of the QR93m Ras Abu Aboud 2 substation. It will supply electricity to Ras Abu Aboud Stadium, a venue of the FIFA 2022 World Cup.

Ras Abu Aboud 2 is the last of the five major sub-stations constructed and commissioned by Kahramaa for the FIFA 2022 World Cup stadiums.
The sub-station with the capacity of 66/11 KV is part of the 12th phase of the Qatar Power Transmission System Expansion Network.
The substation will supply 80 MVA of electricity from four transformers with a capacity of 40 MVA, each equipped with 66/11 KV. The station is connected to Ras Abu Aboud Station through a cable of 66 KV with a length of 450 metres.

It was developed by Siemens Global while cables connecting the substation with the feeder are produced by Doha Cables. General Electric carried out communication work and connected the station to the control systems at the National Control Centre of Kahramaa.
