DOHA: Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF) has relaunched its life insurance scheme in association with Damaan Islamic Insurance Company (Beema), after a break of a few months due to the Covid-19 situation.

The programme enrolls all Indian nationals resident in Qatar with coverage of QR100,000 for a two-year period with a QR125 premium.

The scheme was started in December 2019 and soon became popular with the Indian diaspora,. Many Indian companies conducted campaigns to get their staff enrolled in the programme apart from Indian associations who were campaigning to get maximum members enrolled.

ICBF President P N Baburajan said: “The community is eagerly waiting for the insurance scheme to restart as many people realised its value provided by ICBF at very low cost.”

Claim distribution

ICBF Head of Media & Development Juttas Paul said: “In a short span of a few months, we have received eight claims out of which claim distribution for four have been completed and others are in progress. Though it is painful that a few of those took the insurance have passed away, the scheme could provide some immediate financial relief to their family members in this difficult time.”

The scheme also covers permanent or partial disability up to the maximum covered amount, depending on the severity of the disability.

Legal clinic

Meanwhile, ICBF will hold its legal clinic for this month on 10 September from 6 pm onwards.

Community members who need legal help can log in to their computer and discuss their concerns with the legal team who would provide counselling and advice on the course of action to be taken. 

In addition to the legal advice, an awareness session on `Qatar Labour Law – Current Trends’ by D. Nizar Kochery for the benefit of the community members wold also be held.
