DOHA: Husbands of pregnant women with children under five years have been excluded from hotel quarantine and can opt for home quarantine, the Ministry of Public Health has clarified.
The Ministry stressed that several categories of people coming from countries which are not in the low-risk category have been exempted from hotel qurantine and residents must be aware of these categories.
The Ministry of Public Health confirmed that there are a number of cases that can be excluded from the mandatory hotel quarantine for those coming to the State of Qatar from countries that do not fall on the list of low-risk countries, explaining that the owners of these cases fall within the non-immune groups eligible for home quarantine, whether they are Qataris or Residents, and their family members who reside with them, including domestic workers.
The ministry said on its website: “The cases include 20 groups that can be excluded from the mandatory hotel quarantine, and they are: adults aged 55 years and above, people who have undergone organ or spinal cord transplantation; hypertensive patients who receive treatment, and patients suffering from conditions requiring immunosuppressive therapy, patients with heart failure or coronary artery disease, and patients suffering from asthma (moderate to high severity).
The ministry added: The categories also include cancer patients and those undergoing treatment sessions (chemotherapy or radiotherapy), pregnant women, nursing mothers with children aged 0-5 years, and patients suffering from acute kidney failure (in its last stages) or who undergo dialysis sessions, patients with liver disease, patients who have had limb amputations, and people with disabilities who depend on others to carry out their daily activities.
The ministry added: The cases also include children with disabilities and their mothers, epilepsy patients who receive treatment, diabetic foot disease patients, people who have first-degree relatives who passed away within the last 10 days, and people who suffer from mental health problems and are undergoing treatment, and diabetics who are receiving treatment.
The Ministry also pointed out that the father is excluded from the hotel quarantine if his wife is pregnant and has children under five, as these vulnerable groups qualify for home quarantine, including their family members who reside with them.
And the ministry continued: A resident coming from another country can go through a low-risk country to undergo a Covid-19 examination before returning to the State of Qatar, and he/she will be excluded from conducting the examination at Hamad International Airport on the condition that he resides in the low-risk country for a week before the date of travel.
On the issue of applying for an entry permit, the Ministry said: The employer is authorized to apply for an entry permit for a resident, and as for family members, the resident must apply for an entry permit for them, provided that he obtains an entry permit if he is outside the State of Qatar.
