DOHA: Huawei Technologies is collaborating with Qatar’s Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA), along with Qatar University (QU), Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) and Community College of Qatar (CCQ), to hold the ‘Seeds for the Future’ online learning programme.

Thirty-five students are participating in the initiative, which ends on 14 August.

The five-day programme covers the latest developments in cloud computing, the Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, 5G, Smart Home, Cybersecurity, Digital Trade, Digital Economy, Digital Transformation and industry trends.

“This initiative is part of the long-term strategy of building the national cadres’ skillset and experience readiness to enter the workforce and future leadership programmes. This collaboration between the government and private sector on programmes such as ‘Seeds for the Future’ highlights the importance of the close relationship between the two sectors in working together to enable future talents and expose them to cutting-edge futuristic technologies where growth is taking place,” Huawei said in a statement.
CRA president Mohamed Ali Al Mannai said, “This year, the programme is being conducted online – which is a sign of the key role the ICT sector plays in terms of business continuity during crises, like the exceptional circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He added, “The CRA encourages youth to develop their skills and knowledge about this dynamic sector, which contributes fundamentally in various aspects of life, and from our side we work to ensure that the ICT sector develops to meet the needs of the public, contribute to achieving Qatar National Vision 2030 goals, transform Qatar into a digital country and develop a knowledge-based economy.”

Li Xiangyu, vice-president of Public Affairs and Communications, Huawei Middle East, said, “Bringing digital to every person home and organisation, narrowing the digital gap has always been Huawei’s mission. We look forward to our collaboration with the CRA, QU, HBKU and CCQ to boost ICT skills and knowledge transfer to local students.”
