The football world has been set alight with reports that Cristiano Ronaldo ‘has been offered to Barcelona’ in a sensational move that would pair him with Lionel Messi as Juventus try to relieve themselves of Ronaldo’s £28m salary.
The news was broken by Spanish journalist Guillem Balague, who explained to the BBC that the Serie A champions are desperate to ship off Ronaldo due to his astronomical wages that they have been offering him out to Europe’s elite, including Barcelona.
The news has created a sensation in the football world with the Twitter and other social media breaking into great enthusiasm, with some commenting it would be ‘shocking’ to watch the spectacle of both Ronaldo and Messi playing in the same team. Some fans expressed the hope that Ronaldo must join Paris-Saint Germain.
‘He’s been offered everywhere, including Barcelona. I’m not sure if they can get rid of him easily with the kind of money he earns. Who is going to pay that kind of money?,” ,’ Balague said.
ROnaldo, the former Real Madrid talisman, seems to be on his way out from Juventus after two seasons with The Old Lady.
Another report said Juventus’ hierarchy of sporting director Fabio Paratici, vice president Pavel Nedved and chairman Andrea Agnelli with new boss Andrea Pirlo will hold a meeting on Thursday to decide who will leave out of Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala.
According to some reports, those close to the Portugal captain have denied there is any truth to the speculation, calling the links to the Spanish giants “completely false”.
Ronaldo still has two years left on his deal with Juventus, as he signed a hugely lucrative four-year deal back in 2018.
Reports also said Barcelona have been hit hard financially by the coronavirus pandemic and look unable to make big-money signings during the summer period, as they hope to bridge the gap to LaLiga champions Real Madrid.
The football journalist suggested that Juventus has asked the striker’s agent, Jorge Mendes, to look for another club for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, and that he was even offered to Barcelona.
