DOHA: The Indian Embassy marked the country’s 74th Independence Day on 15 August with the traditional flag-hoisting.
Indian Ambassador Dr Deepak Mittal unfurled the Indian flag on the embassy premises, followed by the national anthem.
He also read out the Independence Day message from Indian President Ram Nath Kovind on the occasion. Mittal paid floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and planted a sapling on the embassy premises.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and safety protocols in place which limited the number of guests, the event was live-streamed on the embassy’s social media platforms. .
