The 11-day ‘2019 International Dates Exhibition’ held in Doha saw sales of 329 tonnes of dates. A total of 150 local and international exhibitors from 10 countries took part in the event which concluded yesterday. Average daily sales of dates were 120 kg to 140 kg from each stall.
People flocked to the event lured by discounts of up to 50 percent. The festival was organised by the Agriculture and Fishery Affairs Department of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), in collaboration with Souq Waqif.
The festival was aimed at promoting local date production, identification of different varieties, supplies and proper care of the palm tree.
