A state-of-the-art consular section at the Pakistani Embassy in West Bay was inaugurated on 14 August – Pakistan’s Independence Day – and will start functioning from 16 August.
It can accommodate around 300 people and would open at 8 am to serve the community.
Pakistani Ambassador Syed Ahsan Raza Shah noted the new premises of the embassy were inaugurated in February by the country’s Foreign Minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, during his visit to Doha that month.
However, consular services were delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. He said there had been complaints the consular section of the earlier embassy premises had little space. “The new consular section is very spacious with good seating arrangements and other facilities,” he told media.
Masood Gul, Deputy Head of Mission, said: “Here, all services are provided under one roof with dedicated counters for different services like passports, attestation, power of attorney and NICOP, among others.” Gul stated an ATM would be available in the section and fees could be paid using bank cards.
The West Bay embassy covers an area of over 8,100 sq. metres and also has a large public hall for community gatherings.
