DOHA: Expressions of Interest (EOIs) have been invited by the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) from private firms to set up four new health centres, expected to start operations by Q1, 2024.

The centres are to be located in Madinat Khalifa, Umm Ghuwalina, Nuaija and Al Themaid and will be developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

While the Madinat Khalifa Health Centre and Umm Ghuwalina Health Centre will be rebuilt, Nuaija Health Centre and Al Themaid Health Centre will be built anew.

The project is part of PHCC’s strategy to improve the quality and capacity of primary healthcare facilities across the country.

The EOIs aim to invite competent Qatari and international firms and consortia capable of delivering the project to participate in the tender process. Once an EOI has been received, Ashghal would then take the next step by issuing a Request for Qualifications document.

The private investor would get an opportunity to build, finance, operate and maintain and transfer (DBFOMT) the primary health care centres on behalf of the Primary Health Care Corporation.

The length of the concession period for the operation and maintenance of the health centres is expected to be up to 25 years. However, this is subject to revision. Land would be leased from the government at a nominal rent.
