Public Works Authority (Ashghal) Director of Operation and Maintenance of Roads Yousef Ibrahim Al Emadi has said the budget allocated for road projects during the current year is about QR23bn. He added around QR9bn of this budget is directed to highways and QR12bn for local roads.
Al Emadi said in a statement on the sidelines of the opening of the Project Qatar 2019 exhibition and conference that Ashghal was going on to implement plans for the projects in the time set for them. “We have exceeded the blockade and are moving ahead with the implementation of projects even before the date set. For example, the Khor road was completed one year ahead of schedule and currently the hub of Sabah Al Ahmad is being completed and will be finalised in 2021. “
He said that after 2022, Ashghal will open a new phase of projects, whether in highways or in infrastructure that will serve the country, noting that more than 90 per cent of the roads linking the facilities of the World Cup 2022 have been completed.
