DOHA: Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani issued on Thursday Law No. (13) of 2019 establishing the Media City.
According to the law, a city called Media City will be established, with a distinct character and an independent budget, and its functions and structure will be determined by a decision of the Council of Ministers.
The Media City aims at managing and developing the media activities in the State of Qatar and enhancing Qatar’s position as a venue for international media, technology companies, research and training institutions working in the field of media and digital media.
The Media City will also support and promote digital and technological media projects, and achieve economic and professional integration with the various state projects through companies licensed to operate in the Media City.
The law will come into effect on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
