DOHA: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education, in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), has issued a set of precautionary measures to maintain a safe and healthy environment in all government and private schools and educational institutions in the country.

“This reflects the Ministry’s great concern for the continuity of the educational process in accordance with sound frameworks and strict health requirements to protect our children, students and staff,” the Ministry said in a statement.

All government and private school employees would be tested for Covid. The government school employees would be tested by the MoPH and Hamad Medical Corporation before the start of the school year to ensure they are free of disease.

There would be testing of all employees in private schools by the private health sector before the beginning of the school year to ensure they are free of disease. Priority in testing would be given to academic staff, followed by administrative staff.

The Ministry of Education has stressed all schools in Qatar must follow the precautionary health measures to confront Covid-19, previously announced through the Ministry of Security and Safety Department.

It warned that whoever deliberately or negligently violates preventive procedures and measures in relation to infectious diseases and epidemics, would expose himself to legal accountability before the competent authorities in the state, as the application of Law No. 9 of 2020 would not be negligent in the application of Law No. (9) of 2020, which amends some provisions of Decree-Law No. 17) for the year 1990 regarding prevention of contagious diseases, the penalty of which may reach imprisonment for a period not exceeding three years and a fine not exceeding QR200,000 or either of these two penalties.
