Dr Ali bin Smaikh Al Marri was unanimously re-elected as Chairman of the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) in its new session on Monday. Dr Mohamed Saif Al Kuwari was elected as Vice-Chairman of the committee by a majority. Mariam bint Abdullah Al Attiyah was also elected as General-Secretary of the NHRC, a rapporteur for the committee.
The meeting then discussed a number of related issues and members of the committee were distributed to the three subcommittees – the Reporting and Legislation Committee, the Monitoring and Visits Committee and the Research and Studies Committee.
